You need to watch 13 Reasons Why if you have ever struggled with suicide or dont understand mental disorders.

If you haven’t caught up on the latest controversial Netflix scene, you are missing out. Recently, Netflix (along with Selena Gomez) added a new show called 13 Reasons why. This show has received many diverse responses since it was added to Netflix. Some of which are helping those who suffer from mental illnesses such as anxiety, depression and suicidal thoughts. There are also the negative reviews that say this show only glorifies committing suicide. Let me be the first to tell you that this is the farthest from the truth. I suffer from depression, anxiety and suicidal thoughts. Many people do. As a matter of fact, in the United States alone the suicide rating continues to increase. Ratings concluded that for every 100,000 people 13 commit suicide. This may not seem like a large amount but it is, especially when that number should be zero. This show intrigued me so I binged it over a week’s time. For those of you who struggle with suicide or those of you who just don’t get why people do, here’s 13 reasons why you should watch 13 Reasons Why:
  1. Alone versus being surrounded
  2. Cries for help
  3. Actions versus reactions
  4. Understand the effects of bullying
  5. Everyone’s perspective
  6. Fixations
  7. Creative responses
  8. Guilt, shame and piling on the insecurity
  9. Questioned when asking for help
  10. Hardcore scenes of pain, rape and suicide
  11. Screams of help
  12. Feeling uneasy and judged
  13. Everyone wants to be loved
This show goes into the life of a girl (new to the town) who feels alone, rejected and bullied. She creates 13 reasons why she commits suicide. The 13 reasons consist of what leads up to her death and what influenced her to go in the way she did. Each person gets to hear what this girl felt that were their contributions to why she commits suicide. It is an emotional roller coaster that will have you in tears, especially when it gets to the double digit reasons. This show does not glorify suicide at all. If anything it gives help to others to understand why a person feels like there is no other way. It helps you to understand the effects of bullying, the signs of suicide, signs of depression and above all how to treat one another. One ill word could create the last drop that was needed on a stock pile of inner turmoil. That is exactly what happened to the main character. She battles being new, rejected, rumors, and even raped. With every battle she moves past it until it becomes too much and creates a thick pile she cant climb out from under.

This show is beyond accurate with how it shows the feelings of the lead female role. It also demonstrates the impacts that clicks or groups of people can make someone feel who isn’t considered above the average norms. The part that I did not understand until I watched it was the way others would feel if something happened to their loved one. Some shut down, some go into denial, some fight back what happened and others brush it off like lint. It can feel like no one is there for you and that you are alone but there is always someone there. The girl from this show tried and tried time and time again to find someone but everyone was so swept up in their own worlds that they didn’t listen or questioned her when she asked for help.

From just watching this show, I have learned so much from a different pair of eyes. If you struggle with suicidal thoughts, depression, or anxiety you are not alone. Make them listen. For those of you who dont get mental illness or consider those who have them to be weak or crazy, you should also watch this show. You could help save a life. It shows how she felt through it all, which is so relatable to those who fear there is no other option. It will bend your thoughts and make you feel exactly how she feels and how everyone else feels. Once you watch this show you will have a new perspective and it won’t be that it glorifies suicide.

5Ks

So I decided I want to do this mud run 5k. Being healthy and working out any way. 💪🏼 Why not go the full blown route of getting more out of it and helping charities in the process? 🎉 But then I heard about virtual 5k, 10k, etc. So I will be doing a 5k every month to help work up to the actual 5k I want to place in. (Let's see how that goes 😬) So far I have signed up for 2 5Ks. I also posted the pictures of what some of them look like. One is January and one is February.

Month of January- Law Enforcement 5k
Month of February- Groundhogs Day (2.2 miles)
I'll keep y'all updated on the rest of the year and the actual 5k I'm training for (Grits & Glory-May 13th).
If you are interested in any virtual 5 k go here --> http://www.virtualrunevents.com/

Back in action ladies and gents!

I have taken some time and a large amount do thought of what to do for a job that does not take up my time with my kids, husband, and going to school. I have decided to start up selling a variety of products from two different companies and I am very excited about it. One of the companies is Avon which I have sold for before. I have already paid my enrollment fee of $15 and set up my Eaccount online. The other is passion parties. I think based on my personality (outgoing and spontaneous) that this is a good fit for me to sell these products. I haven't paid my kit fee yet due to debating still but I am leaning more toward doing it because of the standard 40% always commission fee. I'll keep ya posted on information from both for items and my journey to see what I have done and accomplished. Wish me luck!

Happy Memorial Day!

I think that it is very important that we all take a moment today and thank a soldier, vet, firefighter, etc. If it was not for these men and women we would not be where we are today. They fight for our freedom and save lives for very crappy pay and very crappy housing. They deserve so much more and I'm sure at least a small token if gratitude to one would make their day! So many lives have been lost and there has been so much pain for their families. Don't take this while weekend as a celebration of a 3 day weekend or an excuse to get wasted. It is more than that. Hug your loved ones and be grateful that they are still here and be grateful that you have freedom because so many have fallen for you to have it. God bless and happy Memorial Day!

Sams in Henderson

For our 6 year anniversary my hubs and I decided to go to Sams in Henderson. We had gotten so many mixed reviews so we had to try it ourselves. Turns out it was SO good and I highly recommend it. The place was clean. The staff was great. I had ordered three fish and three shrimp with corn cob on the side and fries. I didn't exactly get what I ordered but I am not complaining at all. I didn't get the cob but got extra fries and an extra piece of fish. The fish had such an amazing flavor and the fries were too notch. I really liked the fried pickles as well. All in all great place to take the fam. There was so much food left over I had to get to go boxes. So big quantity great quality and cheap pricing. xoxo.

Walk of Shame

After a great day with the fam we decided to watch a movie. Of course my hubs passed out so I picked the movie without him :D I have to say I was NOT disappointed at all. From the beginning of the movie to the end I was laughing so hard. I highly recommend watching this movie if you're in need for a laugh or just wanna see a great movie with James Marsden❤️  Lemme know what you thought about it :) xoxo
